Soft shell, tough core …
… a slightly twisted saying that perfectly describes the SC-BINARY 225 (art. 510-0051) bulk cable from Sommer cable. For the surface of the cable is so soft that it literally invites you to cuddle it. But the cable doesn’t just feel good – it also has impressive technical specifications and can be used as a reliable microphone, AES/EBU and DMX cable.
The halogen-free, highly water-repellent and UV-resistant soft HTPE outer jacket (Ø 6.7 mm) was specially developed for Sommer cable and is biologically harmless, easily degradable and recyclable. Underneath its soft shell, it proves to be extremely durable and tough and thus guarantees excellent handling in daily use. Whether on stage, in the studio or in permanent indoor or outdoor installations, the cable is extremely easy to reel and unreel and impresses with its low-stretch, durable construction, which also prevents unwanted tangling or slipping of the wire pairs. At the same time, a double shielding of an aluminum-coated fleece and a dense copper braiding ensures reliable protection against external interference – even with longer cable runs and in demanding environments. Inside the cable is a supple, high-purity 6N copper (OFC 99.9999 %), which guarantees an incredibly high number of bending cycles and an extremely long service life.
The SC-BINARY 225 is mainly used for networking scanners, lighting systems and digital mixing consoles as well as for connecting digital audio amplifiers, and is equally available as a ready-made connection cable. Here, the manufacturer recommends the version with HICON XLR connectors in a conductive metal housing (art. no. BEGS-0100-SW). And for a smart goods and inventory management, a version with an integrated Relyos chip is also available (art. BEGSS0100-SW).
